Day 6: Iquique - Calama

Drive from Iquique to Calama, crossing the impressive Atacama Dessert, the driest in the world.  Stop at Geoglyphs of Pintados, the biggest concentration of this kind of giant rock art in Chile with more than 350 figures. Lunch on the way. Arrival to Calama late afternoon. Hotel.

Day 7: Calama - San Pedro – Museum – Quitor Fortress – Moon Valley

A.m Transfer from Calama to San Pedro de Atacama. Visit Archaeological Museum “Gustave le Paige”, with a complete collection of artifacts of the Likanantai culture, then the main square, the Catholic Church and the ruins of the fortress of Quitor, built during the XII century and destroyed in a battle against the Spaniard invaders.

P.m. Visit the Moon Valley, one of the highlights of the area. Strange formations carved mainly by water and wind and large sand dunes make this place unique and the perfect scenery to finish the day with a nice sunset. Return to San Pedro.

Day 8: San Pedro –Miscanti and Miniques Lagoons – Atacama Salt flat

Departure in the morning with a first stop in Toconao village for aclimation and to apreciate the bell tower, located on the square, with the roof and door made with cactus wood. Continuing up to the Andes and passing the town of Socaire we will be in the “Altiplano”, and suddenly we will find two emerald lagoons surrounded by several volcanoes. Short hike to observe some fauna and curious species of plants that live in very difficult ambient. Picnic close to Miniques lagoon. While returning to San Pedro, stop at the Atacama salt flat, another place to observe flamingoes and have a nice sunset. Return to San Pedro. Dinner.

 Day 9: San Pedro – Geiser del Tatio – Puritama Hotsprings

05:00 A.m. Departure to the Tatio geysers. After two hours in a gravel road we will find one of the most surprising locations in Atacama, the Tatio geothermic field, located at 4.300 meters of elevation. After breakfast close to the geysers, we will make a short hike around. Drive back to San Pedro and stop in the hot springs of Puritama. Return to San Pedro.
TRF to El Loa Airport to take the last flight of the evening.
